Better Understand Shakespeare's Language

The audio CD provides an approach for students to overcome the language barrier, which is often the biggest challenge your students face.

The various scenes included on the audio CD allow the student not only to hear Shakespeare’s language performed by some of the greatest Shakespeareans from past to present, but also to listen while reading along with the text. This helps the students to hear the text out loud, building their abilities to understand Shakespeare’s unique language.

The Speaking Shakespeare portion of the audio CD allows the students to listen to voice coach Andrew Wade work with an actor on speaking Shakespeare’s language.

The audio CD provides multiple performances of the same scene. The student can compare the different audio performances and experience how hearing the language in different ways can change the interpretation of a scene.

Tips and Reviews:

Audio is very useful in teaching Shakespeare; without the visual references of a video, students are forced to listen closely, a skill that was more prevalent in the Renaissance than it is in today’s visual society.
